THE QUARTER SYSTEM
The ACADC Institute College of Addiction Studies operates on the quarter system for classroom courses. Each quarter of the academic year is ten weeks in length. The quarter terms run from September to August as follows:
- 1ST QUARTER - SEPTEMBER TO NOVEMBER
- 2ND QUARTER - NOVEMBER TO JANUARY
- 3RD QUARTER - JANUARY TO MARCH
- SUMMER SESSION - JUNE TO AUGUST
CONSISTENCY STANDARDS
CONVERSION OF QUARTER AND SEMESTER UNITS
USE THE FOLLOWING CONVERSION FORMULA TO CONVERT BETWEEN QUARTER HOURS AND SEMESTER HOURS FOR CREDIT TRANSFER PURPOSES - The Association of Christian Alcohol and Drug Counselors College of Addiction Studies will evaluate and accept transfer credit from accredited colleges or universities and approved religious colleges and institutions offering programs or courses designed to train counselor and ministry students:
TO CONVERT QUARTER UNITS TO SEMESTER UNITS: Multiply the number of quarter units by .667. For example, 25 quarter units x .667 = 16.675 semester units.
TO CONVERT SEMESTER UNITS TO QUARTER UNITS: Multiply the number of semester units by 1.5. For example, 25 semester units x 1.5 = 37.5 quarter units.
COLLEGE OF ADDICTION STUDIES - ACADC/New Gate College
These degree programs meet the academic requirement to become a CA State certified addiction counselor. Additionally you must complete the necessary field experience hours and pass the IC&RC test.

COLLEGE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES
ASSOCIATE OF MINISTRY – Requirement for entrance into the Associate of Ministry Program is one of the following: A high school diploma, a GED, or successful passing of the CSAC I Entrance Inventory. The graduation requirements are: 90 quarter units of course studies.
BACHELOR OF MINISTRY – Requirement for entrance into the Bachelor of Ministry program is a high school diploma or a GED. The graduation requirements are: 180 quarter units of course studies.
MASTER OF MINISTRY – Requirement for entrance into the Master of Ministry Program is the successful completion of a Bachelor degree. The graduation requirements are: 90 Quarter units and completion of a Masters Thesis.
MASTER OF DIVINITY - This is not an academic degree but a degree awarded upon the following:
- Awareness of God's call to ministry.
- Field experience that is verifiable and shows evidence of fruitfulness.
DOCTOR OF MINISTRY – The requirement for entrance into the ACADC Institute Doctoral Studies Program is a Bachelor degree from ACADC Institute or another approved institution. The graduation requirements are: 90 Quarter units of classroom training or distance learning self-paced, self-study, and completion of a Doctoral Dissertation.
